Transfers from Warsaw's Frederick Chopin
(Okecie)airport.
Train from Warsaw Airport to Warsaw city centre
There
is a train service that runs to Warsaw Central train
station but it isn't really worth the hassle as
Warsaw airport is better serviced by buses and
taxis.
Buses from Warsaw Airport to Warsaw city centre
Bus
numbers 175 & 188 will both take you into the city
centre. Both buses depart from immediately outside
the arrivals hall, between the terminal building and
the multi storey car park and tickets can be

Zloty for
a one way ticket and there is an equivalent charge
for each piece of luggage. Please note there will be
a small increase on public transport tickets
starting from June 2008. The #175 bus passes through
the city centre and near the
Old Town (Stare Miasto). Both buses run from 04:50 to 23:10 daily

The
night bus (#611) operates between 22:47 and 04:47
and will take you to the Central Railway Station
(near the Palace of Culture). The ticket price for
this service is 7.20 PLN with an equivalent charge
for each item of luggage.
The
Polski Express coach departs from Platform 4 outside
Terminal 1 every 20 mins (with the exception of
Sundays and Public Holidays when it runs every 45
mins). It runs between 04:50 and 23:10
stopping at the major hotels and the central railway
station. Tickets cost 6PLN and there is NO
additional charge for luggage.
Taxis from Warsaw Airport to Warsaw city centre
Taxis
can be found directly outside the arrivals hall with
approximate fares to the city centre usually being 30-40
Zloty.
Warsaw airport advises passengers against using
unlicensed taxi companies who will tout for business
within the airport terminal. Warsaw airport gives it's seal of
approval to the following companies which can be
found in the taxi rank outside the terminal:
* Merc
Taxi, phone: +48 (22) 677 77 77
* Sawa Taxi, phone: +48 (22) 644 44 44
* MPT Radio Taxi, phone: +48 (22) 9191
If you
are landing at Etudia terminal then do not take a
taxi from outside the Etudia terminal as they are
not regulated and are likely to try and rip you off
with the price. Instead walk 100 metres to the main
terminal and then catch a ride with one of the above
named taxi companies.
See
our "handy tips for dealing with Polish taxi
drivers" at the bottom of this page.
Hotel Shuttle Bus Service
Some
hotels in Warsaw will provide a complimentary
shuttle service between the hotel and Warsaw airport
so it's worth enquiring if your hotel provides such
a service.
Transfers from Krakow's John Paul II (Balice)
airport.
There
are a few options to get you from Krakow airport to
Krakow city centre.
Train from Krakow airport to Krakow city centre
Krakow
Balice train station is located about 200 metres
from the terminal and takes about 5 mins on foot or
about 3 mins if you use the free shuttle bus
service.
The train from Krakow Balice airport to Krakow city
centre (Dworzec Glowny) takes about 15 mins
and costs 6 PLN (just over £ 1.00) for a single
journey. Dworzec Glowny is located just outside the
Old Town of Krakow and as long as your suitcases
aren't too heavy and your hotel is located in the
north of the Old Town then walking shouldn't be too
hard. Otherwise, it's a short taxi ride.
Buses from Krakow Airport to city centre
A
couple of buses go from Krakow airport to the centre
of Krakow. #192 takes you to Krakow's Old Town. Go
as far as the main railway/bus station (Dworzec
Glowny) which is a short distance from the main
sights. The #208 is a less popular option and will
take you through to Nowy Kleparz. both fares cost
2.50 PLN with journey times of approximately 30-40
mins.
Taxis from Krakow Airport to city centre
Taxis
can be found outside the arrivals hall. The taxi
fare from Krakow airport to Krakow city centre will cost
approximately 50 PLN (approx £ 10) and takes around 15-20 minutes.
Same rule applies here in that you should only catch
a taxi from outside the terminal building.
Transfers from Katowice airport :-
Buses from
Katowice Airport to Krakow city centre
People flying to
Katowice generally do so en route to Krakow as
Katowice is the airport of choice for a number of
budget airlines.
For
passengers travelling with Wizz Air and with their end
destination being Krakow then I strongly recommend
booking a Wizz Air shuttle bus. This can be booked
on Wizz Air's own website or directly online with the
bus operator
here. It's possible to buy tickets once on the
shuttle bus but there is a risk all the seats may
have been taken. Prices for a one way journey from
Katowice airport to Krakow city centre are approx £
9.16 with the journey time being approximately 1.5
hours.
Taxis from Katowice Airport to Krakow city centre
As Katowice airport is a good 1 - 1.5 hour drive
from Krakow then taking a taxi is an expensive
option. Expect to pay around £ 55 for a one way
journey.
See
our "handy tips for dealing with Polish taxi
drivers" at the bottom of this page.
Transfers from Gdansk Lech Walesa airport :-
As Gdansk airport
is close to the city centre then taxi fares are very
reasonable. A one way trip should cost between £ 7 -
£ 15. If you're heading for Sopot or Gdynia then
just add a few extra pounds to the taxi fare.
The Gdansk City Bus Line
B runs between Gdansk airport and the city centre
with a ticket priced at approx. £ 1. However, unless
you're on a shoestring budget then I'd recommend
taking a taxi.
Transfers from Wroclaw airport :-
Wroclaw airport is similar to Gdansk in that the
airport isn't that far from the city centre. A one
way taxi fare should cost somewhere in the
region of £ 10.
The #
406 bus runs from Wroclaw airport to the city centre
and a ticket costs approx. £ 9.

Handy
tips for dealing with Polish taxi drivers
*
Always use a marked taxi with company name and phone
number on the vehicle.
* Be
prepared ! Write the name of your hotel/apartment on
a piece of paper along with the phone number. Give
this to the taxi driver and then ask in Polish
"Ile
kosztuje ?" (eele koshtuye) = How much ?
He will probably answer you in Polish so ask him to
write the price down on your paper. This prevents
you from getting ripped off by getting into a taxi
without asking first how much your journey will
cost.
